PARKFIELDS COMMUNITY CENTRE EASTER HOLIDAY CLUB 2012
“WHAT DOES EASTER MEAN TO YOU”
Building on the success of previous holiday clubs, the theme of our holiday club at Easter was “What Does Easter Mean to you”. 22 children registered over the three days and with the help of volunteers from local churches and the community including parents and grandparents we explored the traditions of Easter and the stories of Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
This was achieved through Power Point stories, songs, games and craft actities including making a Palm Sunday collage, Easter wreaths, Easter gardens and Easter baskets with chicks and eggs.
The highlight was the making of a large Cross depicting the ‘Stations of the Cross’ and other images of Easter as well crowns of thorns using plastic hoola hoops and the robes of Jesus out of material. We also enjoyed lots of food
Everyone involved had a great time and learned more about what Easter means to us as Christians and why Jesus had to die on a cross.
This is another example of how the church can engage with children in sharing the good news of Gospel, reaching out, inviting children in as opposed to waiting for or expecting them to come.
We pray that the seeds we have sown will grow in the hearts of the children and helpers, and that we can nurture those seeds and encourage them to develop as we continue to do God’s work here in Mold even though we may not see the results for many years to come.
