Remuneration for those who visit our churches to lead worship
It is recognised that Churches vary in size and ability to pay.
Churches are free to vary the amount paid according to their circumstances.
The recommendations give below are for guidance.
1. Stipendiary Ministers and CRCWs who are invited to lead worship in churches other than in their own pastorate should be offered travelling expenses at the rate of 25p per mile or the cost of public transport if that has been used.
2. Retired Ministers, Ordinands and Lay Preachers should be offered their travelling expenses as above. Churches are encouraged to offer a gift in addition to this. The recommended amount is £30 for each service.
3. Synod Officers (Moderator, Training and Development Officers etc) regard leading worship in the churches as part of the ministry for which they receive a stipend. Their expenses are remunerated centrally. If churches wish to mark their visit by a contribution to the central travel funds the recommended amount is £20 per service.
