New Safeguarding Regulations

From the 1st of September there are some changes to CRB checking procedures and also to the definitions of  regulated activity with children and adults.

This is maybe a good opportunity for us to get back to the basics and look at our entire safeguarding procedures, over the next few months there will be more information about safeguarding on the website, so please keep up to date with it.

When we think of safeguarding it usually strikes fear in our hearts, but mostly it is common sense, many of the changes will not make any real difference to many churches but that does not mean that we can sit back and do nothing. We are all responsible for the safeguarding of all children and adult who come into our premises and safeguarding is not the responsibility of simply one person but of us all.

In our churches we should already be practicing safe recruitment,

pdfsafer_recruitment_guidance_Nov09.pdf546.09 KB and following the basic rules of safeguarding. These new regulations are primarily relating to Criminal record bureau checks and who may need them.

If any church or groups of churches wish some more tailor made advice please contact Judy Harris or Dr David Whyler to ask questions or arrange a visit, at which safeguarding awareness sessions can be given and help and advice on a range of other related information.
